India Aims to Build World’s First Thorium ADS

India, with the help of the United States, ventures to build the world’s first Thorium Accelerator Driven System, the IADS. Dr Anil Kakodkar, former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India called this a mega science project, a "necessity" for humankind. The IADS is only one out of three different Thorium reactors the country is developing, all aimed at making use of the immense indigenous energy resource the country has available in Thorium.

Second Thorium Fuel Test Round Started

The second phase of the five-year fuel irradiation project for thorium based nuclear fuels has commenced at Halden. This second phase is intended to verify test results from the first round, and is a further step towards commercializing thorium as a supplement fuel in conventional nuclear reactors. This is according to Thor Energy the fastest way to start the thorium fuel cycle.

Indonesia and ThorCon to Develop Thorium MSR
