As described before, India is leading the development of thorium energy. And now the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, have announced the 'Global Center for Nuclear Energy Partnership' at the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC. President Barack Obama hailed Singh's decision by saying: "We welcome the announcement of the setting up of the Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership by India. This will be one more tool to establish best practices in the quest for nuclear safety." At this center, the 'School of Advanced Nuclear Energy System Studies' will pursue design studies and analysis of advanced nuclear energy systems with features to achieve intrinsically enhanced safety, security, proliferation resistance and sustainability. These would include a focus on reactor systems, fuel cycle studies, accelerator driven systems and risk assessment studies.
