The international Thorium Energy Conference - ThEC15 - will be held in Mumbai, India during October 12-15, 2015. Mumbai, the financial center of India with more than 20 million people, is also the country’s atomic energy hub. Anushakti Nagar, a part of Mumbai called the “Atomic Power City”, is home to the event and its hosts:
BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) - leader of the Indian Thorium Energy Program
NPCIL (Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited) – constructor of the resulting reactors
HBNI (Homi Bhabha National Institute) – a deemed university dedicated to research and development in frontier areas of nuclear science and technology.
ThEC15 will be the largest conference to date, with even more participants and speakers expected to contribute to the event. There will be a reception, a conference banquette, a visit to BARC facilities at Trombay and the Power Reactor at Tarapur and much more.
The conference will involve plenary and invited talks by eminent professionals from India and abroad who have made significant contribution in development of technologies towards Thorium utilization. The conference also invites contributed papers from prospective authors for poster presentation during the conference.
The conference is intended for scientists, engineers, academicians, industries and research students working in various areas of nuclear fuel fabrication, spent fuel reprocessing, waste management, nuclear reactor design and reactor thermal hydraulics and safety for current and new generation thorium based reactor systems. The goal is to focus on technological challenges for harnessing thorium for power generation on commercial scale.
