| The renewed interest in Thorium Molten Salt Reactors began in 2002, when NASA scanned almost forgotten Oak Ridge National Laboratory documents detailing research on Thorium Molten Salt Reactors. Now Gordon McDowell has made a video timeline of advancements as startups have been created, and both China and India have national programs to pursue TMSRs. The main advancements are: 2008 Google Tech Talks on Thorium 2011 China announces national TMSR program Flibe Energy is founded 2015 India starts working on two TMSR designs Bill Gates Terra Power starts (T?)MSR work Indonesia starts working on TMSR with ThorCon 2016 IAEA to create platform for international TMSR cooperation 2017 There is plenty of TMSR work in the making, stay tuned for more news! And maybe most surprisingly, in 2016, actual film footage of the operating MSRE was discovered at Oak Ridge. Dr. Alvin Weinberg himself restates his enthusiasm for TMSR, and his belief that people will one day return to TMSR to power the world.
